Weddings Weddings Weddings!

January popped its head around the door and we were instantly inundated with enquiries from brides wanting to book a Wedding fun casino for their receptions this year. Genuinely, Weddings are my favourite jobs – everyone at a Wedding is there to have a great time, and there’s a lot of excitement and a rich atmosphere. When you hire a fun casino for a wedding, you ensure your family and friends are thoroughly entertained all night long, and they’re a really thoughtful addition to cater for those people who are reluctant to (or cannot) dance!

I’ve spent to long getting Christmas organised, and then attending countless Christmas parties all across London and the South, and it’s hard to get my head out of Christmas mode, but the festive season feels like forever ago now, especially as I am sat at my desk gazing out into what looks like Spring sunshine (although when you step outside it most definitely is still January!) I am starting to get really excited about the Spring and Summer now. The season really kicks off with a huge long line of Wedding Fairs across the South, which are not only a lot of fun, but are a great way for us to meet new suppliers and wedding vendors. I’ll be posting a list of wedding fairs which we will be attending very shortly so if you’re getting married and you’d like to see us in the flesh with our gorgeous casino tables, make sure you come along and say hi, we’d love to meet you!

Crawley Wedding Fair Today at The Hawth

We are exhibiting at The Hawth Theatre today (Sunday January 23rd) at a Wedding Fair, so if you’re getting married soon and your local to the Gatwick/Crawley area, come on down and meet us! We’ll be there from 11am til 4pm with our Roulette tables and Blackjack tables so you’ll be able to have a little flutter if you fancy it! It’s a great way to keep the men entertained whilst the ladies watch the fashion shows and treat themselves to wedding cake samples all day long!

  • “Why should I visit a Wedding Fair?”

Most visitors to the fairs have not organised a wedding before, making Wedding fairs the perfect place to start. Where else can all members of the bridal party get the opportunity to not only see the products, but to talk too and question the Wedding Specialists. An excellent list of suppliers to contact later on can be established, or bookings can made on the day, often with special fair discounts. The latest wedding wear (and some of the prettiest flower girl shoes) can be seen in the Fashion Shows, along with some talented Entertainers.

  • Not visited a Wedding fair before?

On entry the Couple will be invited to register for any Prize Draws and Free Passes for future Wedding fairs. We are also interested to know what you are particularly looking for at the fair. Couples are given an up to date wedding magazine plus goodies bag for collecting exhibitor leaflets and other magazines available within the fair.

The show at The Hawth is always really busy and a lot of fun so I am really looking forward to it. There will be so many great wedding suppliers there you’d be mad to miss it. Make sure you come and say hi, even if you’re not a gambling fan, because we have sweeties and we are really very nice… Well, I am nice, my other girls are totally fabulous! (haha!)

Can’t wait to see you all! Get ready for some Weddingy fun times! “Dum dum dee duuuum… Dum dum dee duuuum!” (That was me humming the bridal march in case it wasn’t immediately obvious.)

Vegas as seen from Space

The image on the right is of Las Vegas at night, as seen by the astronauts in space. It’s an awesome sight. The surrounding darkness of the desert presents a stark contrast to the brightly lit street grid of the developed area. The Vegas Strip is reputed to be the brightest spot on Earth due to theconcentration of lights on its hotels and buzzing and fun casinos. There are an estimated 15,000 miles of neon tubing collectivley along the strip which make up some of the most famous neon signs in the world.

It’s amazing when you fly over the Nevada desert at night on the approach to the airport. there’s nothing but sheer darkness until you hit the hub at the centre. The tarmac of McCarran International Airport, which would normally stand out with it’s row upon row of lights, is dark by comparison. In 1905, there was nothing in this part of the desert but sand, but today, Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. There’s miles and miles of desert surrounding the city, meaning the boundary grows and grows year upon year. It’s hard to believe that Vegas was only named a City in 1911, just 100 short years ago. For such a baby, she’s making quite an impact. Las Vegas is the go-to place for a casino party, and there’s nowhere on Earth quite like it.

Wedding Casino in Southampton

We had an excellent night on Saturday entertaining the friends an family of the new Mr and Mrs Maidment at Chilworth Manor, Southampton. The bride, Charlotte, and I went to school together and haven’t seen each other since then, so it was a really personal wedding casino for me. It was lovely to see a few familiar faces at the blackjack table and roulette table, as well as meeting all of Charlotte and Steve’s lovely guests. There wasn’t a single dull moment at the casino tables and I think it’s safe to say that they went down a complete storm with one and all!

A wedding casino is such a fun and unique way to personalise your wedding day. Your guests will have a fantastic time, and will remember your big day for years to come. Wedding casinos are fantastic for so many reasons. Having a wedding casino at your reception helps break the ice and bring together guests who have just met for the first time. Having fun casino tables can help to smooth over any intervals in the day, such as when photographs are being taken, or when the venue is being made ready for the evening entertainment after the wedding breakfast. It’s a great way to ensure that your guests are being entertained at all times.

I had this amazing idea because since I was little I’ve always loved playing on gstopslots.uk table games such as blackjack, baccarat, roulette, as well as poker.

It’s a lovely way to entertain your guests and is a fabulous addition to the ever popular DJ or band. The music and the casino complement each other harmoniously, and the casino is a great alternative form of entertainment for any of your guests who are not particularly fond of dancing.

New Wedding Venue: Rivervale Barn, Surrey & Hampshire Border

April 30th 2012

As a bride-to-be, I’m currently on the lookout for a place to tie the knot, so when I come across a beautiful wedding venue, I feel the need to share the knowledge with other brides-to-be. When I stumbled on Rivervale Barn recently, I had to see it for myself to really understand what the venue was like. In pictures, it looks amazing, and I am happy to say that in the flesh, it’s even better!! I have genuinely fallen in love with the place. It’s got everything you need. And better still, it’s perfect at any time of the year, which is something not all venues can boast.

The Ceremony

If you’ve always dreamed of getting married in a church because of the tradition and beauty of the buildings, but you don’t want to have a full on religious ceremony, then Rivervale Barn might be the very place you’ve been searching for. The ceremony barn at Rivervale was purpose built for marriages and civil ceremonies, and was designed with tradition in mind,. The interior looks just like an old, gothic church with curved arches, open wooden beams and an arched windows and doors for maximum impact and effect. You have to see it to fully appreciate it. It boasts an entire wall of sky high windows, which let the light pour in on your ceremony, even on the dullest of days. It’s tranquil, peaceful and there’s something about the room which makes you feel like something very special happens here – which is, of course, exactly true. Personally, I couldn’t dream of saying “I do” in a room that doubles up as a conference room, or somewhere that didn’t feel special. You can be sure at Rivervale Barn that your ceremony room will blow your guests away and fill them with a warm feeling that can only really be achieved by a room that devotes itself to making marriage happen on a daily basis.

The Reception

As for the reception barn, which is adjoined to the ceremony room by the entrance barn, it’s light, bright, modern and beautiful. And the best thing about it is that it’s a blank canvas. No gaudy red and yellow carpets to contend with, no ancient artwork adorning the walls, ready to clash with your colour scheme at a moment’s notice. It’s fresh and clean and ready for you to put your very own wedding stamp on it for the day.

When I was visiting, they were setting up for a wedding the next day, and were busy twisitng pretty vines around the wood beams and hanging little tea light holders from them to add an earthy, Midsummer Night’s Dream feel to the room. It was idyllic (and gave me a few ideas for my own wedding to boot.) Whatever your theme, whatever your colour scheme, it will work here. You’ll find yourslef picturing your colours and ideas as soon as you enter the room. It’s too difficult not to!

The staff at Rivervale are friendly, warm, welcoming and above all, very helpful. They’l be able to talk you through all the different options available to you for food and drink, and they’ll also show you the gorgeous added feature of the Cornstore Honeymoon Cottage where the bride can get ready the morning of the wedding and the new Mr and Mrs can stay after the festivities and enjoy their first night together as husband and wife!

Outdoor Space & Accomodation

On top of the gorgeous indoor space, there’s even a beautiful perfectly enclosed private garden that’s absolutely ideal for those all important wedding photos, and an adorable little courtyard which doubles as an incredible sun-trap complete with a romantic water fountain… Did I mention I love this place?

The great thing about Rivervale Barn is that if you’re lucky enough to have bright sunshine on your wedding day, you’ve got plenty of private outdoor space to enjoy the day in the courtyard and gardens, but if the rain comes and threatens to scupper your plans (as it invariably tends to do) you’ve got a light, bright, airy ceremony and reception room which will give the impression of brightness even on a cloudy day. Check out the Rivervale Barn Website to see pictures of the Barn covered in a white sheet of snow, making it even prettier than perhaps the bright summer sunshine does!

The evening reception takes place in the entrance barn in between the ceremony room and the reception room. It’s just enough space to party the night away with your guests (and there’s even room for a casino table or two if you want to really treat your friends and family to a night of classy and buzzing wedding entertainment!)

With all this and more, you’d be a dafty to not go and see the place yourself. It’s a dream. There’s loads more information on their website, including photos and useful links. So if you’re looking for the “Wow Factor” for your wedding venue, and you value intimacy and romance for your big day, take a closer look at Rivervale Barn.

Wedding Reception at Merley House in Wimborne, Dorset

June 26th 2012

A massive congratulations to the New Mr & Mrs Wilson who tied the knot last Saturday and celebrated with friends and family afterwards at Merley House in Wimborne, Dorset. Harlequin Fun Casino were on hand after the speeches to deliver some casino style entertainment to all of their guests, and once again, the casino tables went down a storm!

The happy couple treated their guests to a roulette table and a blackjack table, and their guests didn’t stop playing form the second the tables opened until the moment we had to close them! It’s quite common for brides to provide a bottle of bubbly as a proze for the best player on the night, but this bride and groom went all out when it came to prizes, and had a prize of a gorgeous bottle of premium ladies perfume for the best female player and a stunning mens watch for the best male player of the night.

It was a very close call, and there were a few serious contenders for the title of “Highest Roller” but in the end, the croupier’s decision was unanimous and the winners were announced at the end of the night.

Merley House is one of my absolute favourite wedding venues in Dorset. Not only is the house itself absolutely stunning both inside and out, but the staff at the house are friendly and helpful, which makes everyone’s enjoyment of any event just that bit better!

It was a gorgeous wedding, and the bride and groom chose colours of hot pink and black to theme their day, with bright pink gerberas being the flower of choice for the table decorations and bouquets. The lively colour scheme made for a really vibrant room and brightened even the rainy sky outside which, thankfully, didn’t arrive until well into the evening’s events. All in all, a fabulous wedding, a fun filled reception and a good time had by all.

If you’re planning a wedding at Merley House and you’re thinking of having something a bit different to entertain your guests, get in touch and we’ll be happy to send you a no obligation quote.

Happy 4th of July! Independent Wedding Ideas…

4th July 2012

To all our American friends and family, Happy Independence Day! If you’re thinking of having an all American theme at your wedding, to pay homage to yours or your partner’s heritage, or just to celebrate your love of  Uncle Sam, here’s a drop of inspiration for you. Red white and blue are the obvious colour choices here, and the star spangled banner makes a gorgeous backdrop to the theme. Striking colours and bold prints are a great way to inject vibrancy to your wedding pictures, especially if the weather is more 4th of December than 4th of July.

I’m loving the individual mousses in the red and white stripes topped with American blueberries! A subtle yet colourful way to incorporate the theme into your wedding breakfast!

Continue the theme well into the evening, buy hiring casino tables for your guests to enjoy after the meal. Our casino tables are available to hire in a bright blue colour that will accent and highlight your colour theme to perfection. Or why not treat your guests to a bit of Elvis for the night! Our professional tribute acts always go down a complete storm and will set the theme off with a real bang!

Rain on Your Wedding Day :(

5th July 2012

Rain. rain, rain and MORE rain. Welcome to the Great British Summer. Once again, we’ve set our hopes on a sunny July only to have them dramatically dashed once again. When are we going to learn? It’s bad enough when your day at the park is ruined or your trip to the supermarket leaves you half drowned, but if you’ve planned an event this summer, and you’ve put a lot of time, money and effort into making it a summer event to remember, there’s nothing as irritating (and downright infuriating) as rain on your wedding day. Songstress Alanis Morisette might call it ironic, but to the bride-to-be, it’s just plain unfair.

But fear not! If there’s one thing we Brits do well, it’s come together in a crisis. Make do and mend! Every bride or event organiser should make a back-up plan in case of the very high likelihood of rain. If any part of your festivities are due to take place out of doors, you need to consider what will happen if the heavens open. If you’re going for an outdoor ceremony, consider having a marquee or gazebo to cover the guests. If you wake up on the morning in question and there’s not a cloud in the sky, it’s a simple case of asking the organisers at the venue to take the sides off the marquee to let the sunshine in! Also, consider the route your guests will need to walk to your ceremony. If it’s grassy and prone to mud, it might be sensible to lay down Hessian carpet or similar to ensure your guests shoes aren’t entirely ruined before the official photos have been taken! Besides, it’s hard to concentrate on your all important wedding vows when your toes are pruning up inside your once immaculate, white, elegant Jimmy Choos.

If you’ve organised drinks and canapés on the lawn for after the ceremony, you’ll need a contingency plan. Often, that’s where we at Harlequin Fun Casino come in. We are often booked at the last minute when brides take a glance at the 10 day forecast and realise that their plans for a string quartet and lawn bowls between ceremony and wedding breakfast are about to be scuppered by a downpour. Many brides choose to take the celebrations indoors, and a few casino tables dotted here and there alongside the bar or musicians can be just the thing to keep all you guests entertained whilst they enjoy the atmosphere and you and your new husband disappear with the photographer to get the perfect wedding photos.

Casino tables always appeal to a wide range of people of all ages and tastes. It’s just for fun, so anyone can play, and it’s highly addictive and a lot of fun! It’ll have your guests talking to each other, laughing and joking together and generally break the ice before the wedding breakfast is served. A fun casino is the perfect wedding entertainment, but don’t just take my word for it, take a look at what other brides have said about us on our client testimonials page. If you’re worried about rain spoiling your day, we can help! Get in touch and we’ll send you our no-obligation quote. We’re ready and able to keep your guests thoroughly entertained, whatever the weather! One less thing for you to worry about on your big day.
