“How many fun casino tables do I need?”

Fun-casino-hire-1Another popular question without a specific or standard answer. The number of fun casino tables you need for your event is really your decision, but  it depends on several factors:

  • How many guests are you inviting?

We normally recommend that you hire one table per 40-50 guests, but remember that the more tables you have, the more people will be able to play at any one time.

  • How big is  the venue?

Our fun casino tables are full size and some of them are over 10 foot in length. You’ll need to ensure that the venue you are holding the event in has enough room for all the tables you require. If you’re not sure about space allowance, we’ll happily contact the venue for you and discuss set up and floor plans.

  • Which casino games do you and your guests like the best?

Roulette and blackjack are the most popular by far. Poker is popular too, but the nature of the game means it’s not entirely suited to a party atmosphere. Poker games can go on for hours and hours, and only a small number of people can play at any one time, whereas blackjack and roulette are far more sociable. A hand of blackjack is dealt roughly every 30-60 seconds, so it’s easy to just dip in and out whenever you like. If you’re having over 100 guests, it might be a good idea to hire two blackjack tables and one roulette. Blackjack is always really popular and there’s nearly always a queue to play, so if you have the two of them, it shortens the queue dramatically!

  • What is the budget for your fun casino party?

Obviously, the more tables you hire, the more the price of hire goes up, but hiring a fun casino doesn’t have to be very expensive, and there are lots of discounts and offers to be had here there and everywhere. At Harlequin Fun Casino, we offer a discount when hiring two or more tables, and occasionally you’ll find other offers on our Facebook and Twitter pages so stay in the loop to make the most of these great deals.

Hire a Fun Casino in West Sussex

Casino Hire (16)Hi Again,

I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine today? I have been admiring it longingly from my office window! Glad I get to go out in a couple of hours for a bit of Spring time fresh air! It’s so much fun doing fun casino parties. I absolutely love my job. I get to go to parties, wedding receptions, charity nights and loads of brilliant get-togethers where I meet all kinds of lovely people who are there purely to have a great time!

Tonight, I’m off to Bury, West Sussex to entertain guests at a charity event for The National Childbirth Trust and I can’t wait to meet all the guests and start having some casino fun! It’s up to me to sell the fun money to all the guests, so I’ll be wearing out my shoe leather tonight making sure every single guests buys some fun money to use on the Roulette and Blackjack tables to raise money for such a great cause.

A charity fun casino is a brilliant way to raise money for your favourite charity or organisation. We can sell fun money to your guests and all monies raised go towards the charity of your choice. You can ask local businesses and companies if they’ll donate prizes for your guests to win, so that they’ll be more likely to keep buying the fun money! A nice little incentive always goes down well! If you’re short of offers, then a bottle of bubbly will do the job nicely. At the end of the day, all the money is going to charity, so most guests part with their cash quite happily anyway!

I’ll let you know how tonight goes later and post some pics. Until then, have a great Friday evening whatever you’re doing!

Wedding Planners – Can you afford NOT to use them?

A wedding is one of the biggest (and arguably most important) events you will ever plan from start to finish all by yourself. You’ve probably been mock-planning it in your head for years and years, maybe even before you got engaged, or if you’re like me – before you even met the man you want to marry! But ideas and fantasies are one thing, actually planning it all is another thing altogether. There’s so much to consider and so much to do to make it all come together. You’ve got the obvious things like the ceremony, the reception venue, the food, the dress and the bridesmaids dresses, but what about all the things you hadn’t even considered? The invitations, the “Save the Date” cards, the wedding favours, the name cards for the tables, the centrepieces for the tables, the flowers, the bouquets, the presents for the mother of the bride etc, the bridesmaid’s shoes, your make-up and hair, your dad’s suit, our usher’s suits, the wedding cars, the DJ, the evening entertainment, the evening food, the present table, the thank you cards… I could go on and on. Each individual thing seems simple, but when put altogether, it can be a logistical nightmare. And on top of all the organising, there’s usually a budget to consider. What’s the going rate for wedding stationary these days? How much should you be spending on a sit down meal? What’s reasonable for wedding entertainment? The only way to find out is to ring around and make enquiries, and that can take an astronomical amount of your time.

Planning a wedding should be a fun and pleasant process, not stressful or confusing. That’s why thousands of brides in the UK are choosing to hire a wedding planner to help organise their special day. With the current financial crisis affecting the country, it’s no surprise that brides are trying to be more thrifty when they’re planning their wedding day. Wherever they can save money, they will, and quite rightly too. Small savings here and there really add up and can cut thousands out  of a wedding budget if carefully planned. So why go to the expense of hiring a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is someone who knows weddings intimately. She’ll have organised enough weddings to be able to know what works best, who the best suppliers are, and where it’s possible to make savings and spend your money most wisely. She’ll also be privy to special rates and the occasional discount, so by paying a professional to help you pull off the wedding of your dreams, you could (and probably will) find yourself actually saving money rather than spending more.

Many people are under the illusion that wedding planners are costly and only for the rich and famous, but this is certainly not the case. Wedding planners are there to help you piece together all the little things so that your wedding experience is a happier and stress free one. If you hire a wedding planner, you’ll save yourself a whole lot of money and a whole lot of hassle.  According to wedding planners I Do Weddings & Events, a full wedding co-ordination package can cost as little as 10% of your overall wedding budget, which is a reasonably small amount to pay for the ultimate peace of mind it could offer you. And you don’t have to employ a wedding planner for the whole of the planning process.

Many wedding planners now offer an “On the day” service where they come in on the day of your wedding to ensure the smooth running of the day, liasing with caterers, bands, DJ’s and wedding entertainers, coordinating the whole process from start of day to the finish so that you won’t have a thing to do on your wedding day but relax and enjoy. Others, such as Boho Events based in the Midlands, now offer “Boho Hour” in which clients can spend and hour (or several if necessary) talking to a professional wedding planner just to ask questions and get some hints and tips on how to keep within a budget and which pitfalls to avoid.  Boho Hour costs as little as £35, which is a bargain when you think of the amount of information and guidance you can benefit from their experience.

If you think you’re happy to source your own venue, choose your own theme and caterers and evening entertainment, but you’re not sure about tying it all together as the big day approaches, many wedding planners including Wedding Design By Kim in the South East now offer a “Halfway There” service. She’ll come in at the “halfway point” and help you get all those loose ends tied off like calling your suppliers to confirm, enlisting new suppliers you hadn’t anticipated, and she’ll be there at the wedding rehearsal and on the day itself to make sure everything runs smoothly.

I have to admit, when I first heard about wedding planners, I assumed they were for the very wealthy, and they were only necessary when organising a huge wedding with a ridiculous budget. But the more I’ve looked into it, the more I am utterly convinced that no bride should be without her wedding planner. Even if you just meet with a planner for a bit of guidance, they’re a complete necessity if you’re new to the wedding scene and you’re not sure what you’re doing. I know I will be booking a session the minute I get engaged. I can barely plan a birthday party without losing my cool, let alone the biggest day of my life!

For more information on hiring a wedding planner for your special day, take a look at these lovely wedding planners and see what they can do to make your planning experience a fun, relaxing and enjoyable time. Their websites are jam packed full of ideas and you’ll find lots of information regarding what they do and how they can help you organise your day.

What Happens in Vegas…

We’ve just arrived back from another amazing trip to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Las Vegas on numerous occasions when I was Cabin Crew at Virgin Atlantic, so I think this was probably my 30 something trip, and it just doesn’t get boring.

What to do in Las Vegas

If you’ve never been to Vegas, you’ve probably heard about some of the sights and attractions, and there are hundreds more you’ll never read about in any guide books – it just has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

The first thing people tend to associate with Las Vegas is of course, the casinos, and quite rightly too, as there are over 1,700 gambling haunts in the city centre alone.  The lure of the casino tables is almost too much to bear, and not just for me it would seem, as it’s approximated that 87% of all visitors to Las Vegas gamble at some point during their stay. But aside from the casino tables, there’s so much to see and do in Las Vegas, and far too much to fit into a few short days. Some of my favourite experiences in Las Vegas include the Dolphin and Wild Animal enclosure “The Secret Garden” at The Mirage Hotel,  which is home to Lions, Tigers and Snow Leopards to name but a few of the residents, the view from the top of the Stratosphere Tower which is best seen at night, and no trip to Las Vegas is complete without a trip to the theatre to catch one of the city’s famous shows. “Love”, a Cirque de Soleil show which plays at The Mirage is one of the most beautiful and mesmerising shows currently playing on the strip, and if you’re looking for something truly mesmeric and unforgettable, make sure you catch David Copperfield’s show at The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. A must for all magic fans and sceptics alike. He’ll make a believer out of the most cynical of minds.

Then of course, there’s the unmissable Grand Canyon, situated in the neighbouring state of Arizona which can be accessed by helicopter from Las Vegas. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see one of the worlds most incredible and awe inspiring natural phenomenons dating back 17 million years. You just can’t help feeling incredibly dumb struck when you’re peering into the canyon with your own eyes. It’s like taking a ride back in time in a machine for a few fleeting moments. Unmissable, unforgettable and utterly amazing.

Clubs on The Strip

Aside from the sights, you’d be crazy not to check out the sounds as there are some of the best nightclubs in the whole of the USA in Las Vegas. They’re somewhat pricey as you might expect, but the overall experience is well worth the money. If you’re looking for a Las Vegas party you’re spoiled for choice on the strip, and in a Las Vegas nightclub you’re never more than one casino away from somebody utterly famous. Random and unscheduled apprearances by some of the world’s leading artists are a common sight in Vegas, so don’t be at all surprised if you’re sipping on a Mojito at the bar and suddenly realise you’re standing next to Kanye West (he turned up at the opening of Marquee in The Cosmopolitan last New Year’s Eve and gave an impromptu performance to the crowd – for kicks). I remember being in The Bank at Bellagio for a few drinks last year when all of a sudden I realised Estelle is up on stage entertaining the crowd. Then there was the time Snoop Dogg turned up at Rain at The Palms – somewhat amazing night that was.  Here there and everywhere you hear reports that Will.I.Am has shown up at Caesars or Justin Timberlake took to the stage at Lavo. Of course, there’s a smattering of the lesser celebs (or fading has-been’s) who turn up nightly at the clubs in a vain attempt to whip up some of their former glory and sometimes succeed. DJ Jazzy Jeff, Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer and Coolio to name but a few; whatever your taste, make sure you take your autograph book and a Sharpie pen.( After their star performances, they can usually be found drinking free Jack Daniels on ice at the Blackjack Table outside the club)

The club scene in Vegas is unlike any other I’ve visited across the world, and it should definitely feature on your list of “things to do” in Vegas even if you’re not the clubby type. If you are going to sample the delights of Vegas nightlife, there are a few things you need to know. Weekends, the clubs are jam packed and you’ll need to get in early if you’re hoping to get into a specific club. The best thing to do is to get on a guest list for the club of your choice, which is incredibly easy to do if you’re a group of ladies, and relatively easy if you’re a group of guys. Somewhat unfairly, groups of girls are treated like royalty by club promoters, and you’re likely to get free admission, free drinks and a free VIP table just for turning up before 11pm. Guys, a queue jump is a common perk offered by the promoters, and you might even wangle free entry too, but there’s no debating the fact that they’re out to fill the club with lots and lots of ladies to tempt the men into the club (they assume they are the ones with the bulging wallets – which must be true for the most part as this method seems to work for them.) To get on a guest list, simply call the hotel of your choice and as to speak to the concierge. Alternatively – you can let them come to you. If you’re playing blackjack for fun or walking around on the strip in the daytime, you’re never more than 50 feet away from someone wanting to slap an armband on you to get into the club they are promoting. Each club is vying for bulk of the paying public, so they’ll offer you the world to get you through the door. If they ask to take your phone number, do it and then take theirs, it might seem odd to give your personal number to a stranger, but it’ll be worth it later when you saunter into the club ahead of the crowds and bypass the admission sales desk.

Mid-week in the clubs is a little different. Most of the clubs are closed during the week, typically  leaving only 2 – 3 open. Each club has what’s known as an “industry night” one night per week. The other clubs remain closed and the designated industry club takes care of management and select hosts from the other clubs in Vegas. With only 2-3 clubs open, its most often busier on industry night than a weekend so don’t be fooled into thinking the weekend is where it’s at. Industry nights offer great deals such as free entry and free drinks between 10pm and 11pm. There’s often a celebrity guest or two there, and the atmosphere is as electric as a Saturday night.

Amongst my favourite clubs on the strip are Bank and the Bellagio, Blush at The Wynn, Tao at The Venetian, and the elegant Lavo at The Palazzo.  This trip, I was very excited to sample the delights of one of Las Vegas’s newest and sexiest hotel casinos, The Cosmopolitan as I had heard the bars and clubs were something rather special. I was definitely not disappointed – it’s the perfect place to start you off on a night out on the strip, a perfect blend of old-school Vegas razzle dazzle and modern elegance and sophistication. It’s another one of those Casinos you walk into and can’t help looking around wide eyed and open mouthed for the first ten minutes. There’s so much to see, it’s a real feast for the eyes. The bars are pricey (as are most of the bars on the strip) but it’s worth it for the experience if only just for a couple. There’s wall to wall pink and white “crystals” hanging in 30ft chandeliers from the ceiling and even the slot machines are adorned with drapes and fabrics, it’s really something. I’m a lover of all things camp and glitzy, but I was there with a few friends who found it a bit gaudy and over the top.

My argument remains that if you’re in Las Vegas, you might as well bring out the Bling and pull out every stop where the glitz is concerned. If you’re only here for a few nights, you can handle a bit of flamboyant eye-candy. It’s not like anybody in the place is drinking here every night of the year – you’ll be pushed to find locals on the strip at the best of times, but add an extra $10 onto the price of every single drink at this casino and the locals stay away for the most part (well, the sane ones anyway). It’s a fun night out, and while I appreciate the decor might not be for everyone, it’s an experience I’d urge you to have if you’ve got an hour or two to spare in Vegas.

I am already counting down the days til my next Sin City trip (this coming June) and it cannot come soon enough. It just doesn’t get boring, and it doesn’t matter how much money I lose at the Blackjack table or how many cameras I leave in random nightclub toilets or how many cocktails I regret the next morning, I always come back for more. Vegas was designed for mugs like me, the drinks are expensive, the company is trashy and the casino always wins, but I can’t help but feel quite comfortable with it all. It’s like being patted on the backside by someone you secretly fancy; You know you should be insulted, but you can’t help feeling a weeny bit pleased with yourself.  Roll on June 1st.

Wedding Casino Tables Always a Winner!

We had the pleasure of attending the Wedding reception of the new Mr and Mrs King at the end of last month at the beautiful Highley Manor in West Sussex.  It was a lovely evening with such fabulous people. We had a really great night! After the wedding, we received a really lovely letter of thanks from the Mother of the Bride, here’s a small snippet of the letter below:

“Just a short thank you for all your help. We will pass your details around friends and extended family and they can then have a great time too. We loved the roulette and others commented on how professional and friendly you were. Please pass our thanks on to Melanie too you were both great !”

We were glad to be of service, and we’re always happy to hear back from satisfied customers. It was a really beautiful wedding, and Rachel (the Bride) looked absolutely gorgeous. Two of the youngest players at the table managed to scoop £3,000 between them in less than one hour which was mightily impressive. Congratulations again to the Bride and Groom and thanks for having us! If you’re thinking of hiring a casino for your wedding reception, we’re just the right people for the job! With full size, authentic casino tables, you’ll really impress your guests and ensure they have a fantastic time!

We Will Remember Them…

poppiesToday is the 11th day of the 11th month, and here in Britain, it is the day when we take just two minutes out of our busy lives in silence to remember those who have given their lives for our freedom.

On this day in 1918 the First World War ended. Since 1921, we have come together as a nation to mark the day every year to remember with gratitude, all the men and women who have lost their lives fighting for the freedom of our country, not just in the Great War, but also in World War II and all other conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and beyond.

Wearing a poppy is a visual reminder to yourself and others of what sacrifices servicemen and women have made to ensure we live in safety, and the donation you make will help those affected by the horrors or war to rebuild their lives.

The Royal British Legion, founders of the Poppy Appeal, use the funds raised to provide financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.

For their sake, please wear a poppy, and show your support for the marvellous work of The Royal British Legion. Click here to be directed to the official website for this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Personalised Casino Chips

Personalised Casino ChipsWe had a great night celebrating Chris and Tracy Reed’s wedding on Tuesday in Oxsted. We took a roulette table and a blackjack table to the wedding reception and we had a great time with all their guests! The casino tables were busy from the second they opened to the second we had to close them down, with several guests sticking around from start to finish! We had a few beginners on the tables and surprisingly enough, it was those beginners who scooped the most amount of money throughout the night! I’ve always said there’s an element of beginner’s luck with the game of blackjack and I am sure it’s true!

Tracy asked us to supply her with some personalised casino chips for her wedding casino, which we very happily did. Sports betting is represented by odds for all sports events that online bookmakers provide. These bets can be made pre-match or live and most bookmakers offer over 50 online betting options. We designed the chips according to her specifications, and Tracy chose to have navy blue and white striped chips to coincide with her wedding theme colours. We can supply personalised casino chips in a range of colours and designs, and they make an excellent souvenir for your guests or can be offered in place of, or in addition to wedding favours.

Guests bring them to the casino tables when they want to play.  The chips we supply are incredibly durable and very professional looking. Everyone was very impressed by Tracy and Chris’s chips and they wanted their guests to keep them as a souvenir. We can provide personalised chips from as little as £99 inc VAT, so if you think you might like to order some for your event, please get in touch and tell us what you’re thinking about and we’ll be able to add something really special to your event.

Fun Casino Party in Winchester

Harlequin_024Last night we hosted a fun casino party in Winchester for a group of 150 guests at a hotel in Winchester, Hampshire. We had a great time and so did all the guests. It’s great to watch pe0ple playing Blackjack. Even though each player is playing against the dealer, it usually transpires that there’s a bit of friendly competition between one or two of the players at the table, especially if they’re friends or relatives! The Harleuin High Roller tonight was Sally Fieldman who managed to turn her $50 into $3,300 in her two hour stint at the Blackjack table! She was closely followed by Adam Marlow who held a whopping $3,010 in his hand at one point in the evening.

I love Blackjack, it’s by far my favorite casino game. It’s easy to learn, great fun to play, and highly addictive (although, perhaps that’s a reason to dislike it rather than like it!) Happily, at Harlequin Fun Casino we only play for fun money, so there’s no chance of betting your life away at our casino tables! You can, however lose a great deal of pride, when your Auntie Susan beats you in every hand and you walk away from the table having busted when she’s rolling in notes. Ouch… Well done Aunty Susan, you’re a Blackjack natural!

How Big is a Fun Casino Table?

Fun Casino HireIn a word… BIG!

If you haven’t been to a real Casino before, you’ll probably be surprised at how big the fun casino tables are. Here’s a few notes and measurements to give you a guide!

Roulette: At least 8ft long and 4ft wide. The Roulette table is the most imposing and looks really impressive. We always get commented on how great our tables look, and we’re very proud of how well we keep them too!

Roulette Wheel: Roulette wheels are the one item we get the most comments on! They really are massive and they look really quite grand! We use the 800mm in diameter wheel which is standard in any real casino, but 700mm is also widely used. Our Roulette wheel is made of Rosewood and Mahogany and it looks and sounds brilliant!

Poker: Approximately8ft x 4ft. You can’t really go wrong with a poker table. Everyone loves a game of Poker, and our tables are hand built and have professional layouts. For tournaments, we can re-cover the table with a company logo or crest

Blackjack: Standard size is approximately 6 or 7ft wide and 4ft deep. We have several Blackjack tables, all exactly the same dimensions, and we regularly re-baize them (which means we take off the ‘cloth’ covering and replace it with a fresh one) so that they always look smart and impressive. In Las Vegas, casino tables are sometimes re-baized as often as once a month, but these tables are in constant use 24 hours a day, so the wear and tear on the baize is much greater than on ours. You’ll find in some British casinos (not mentioning any names) that the baize looks a bit worn and threadbare in places. That’s when they need re-baizing. We never let our tables get to that stage, we think it’s important that our tables look as fresh and new at your event as the day they were made!

Craps: Full size can be up to 15ft but 12ft is equally acceptable. A lot of fun casino companies will offer 6 foot tables. It’s really difficult to find full size craps tables for hire. Craps is a great game, but not very popular in the UK, so not many people tend to ask for it. But if you’re looking for one, we can help you! We’re in touch with a company who supply these full size craps tables to casinos and movie sets. Drop us a line and we’ll forward more details.
