It’s Saturday night and once again, Harlequin had the pleasure of hosting a fun casino party in Tunbridge Wells. Tonight

was a 40th birthday party casino and a good time was had by all. The birthday party was attended by more than 200 guests, and the birthday boy and his friends got themselves into the festive spirit of Las Vegas with the help of an Elvis impersonator and a Frank Sinatra sound-alike.

Just like in any real casino in Las Vegas, Harlequin fun casino hire has casino tables with genuine Las Vegas playing cards and chips, expert croupiers with intrinsic knowledge of the games, and all the thrill and excitement of taking a gamble. The only difference is that a fun casino is played for fun money and no real money changes hands. At the beginning of the night, all guests are given the same amount of fun money. This money is then exchanged for  casino chips, which can be played on any of the fun casino tables at the event. At the end of the night, the player who has managed to accrue the most amount of fun money either in cash or chips, wins! The winner is the awarded with a prize.

I woke up this morning and instantly my heart fell. I had a dream last night that I was back in the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas, trying my luck on the Roulette tables and sipping on a long island iced tea. It’s now been over 5 weeks since I went to the Fabulous Las Vegas and I think I am experiencing what they call “Withdrawal Symptoms”.

Have you ever found, when you are over-tired or stressed, that you think you can hear your phone ringing when it’s not? Well, I do. It used to happen a lot. But these days, instead of hearing my phone, I hear the slot machines… Genuinely. It’s becoming a problem. I hear them everywhere.

I Googled it, and the closest thing I can liken it to is an affliction known as “Tinnitus”.  Here’s the official Wikipedia explanation:

Tinnitus (pronounced /tɪˈnaɪtəs/ or /ˈtɪnɪtəs/,^[1] from the Latin word tinnītus meaning “ringing“^[2]) is the perception of sound within the human ear in the absence of corresponding external sound.

Tinnitus is not a disease but a symptom resulting from a range of underlying causes that can include ear infections, foreign objects or wax in the ear, nose allergies that prevent (or induce) fluid drain and cause wax build-up. Tinnitus can also be caused by natural hearing impairment (as in aging), as a side-effect of some medications, and as a side-effect of genetic (congenital) hearing loss. However, the most common cause for tinnitus is noise-induced hearing loss.

Just to clarify, I have never had an ear infection, there are no foreign objects in my ear (that I am aware of) and I am quite hot on inner-ear cleanliness. I refuse to believe it’s the aging process (I am in my twenties for heaven’s sake) so the only option I am left with is “noise induced” Tinnitus.

This makes a lot of sense. I have been lucky enough to spend so many nights inside the mightily impressive Las Vegas nightclubs over the last few years, that it could well be that I am being “music-ed” into loss of hearing. The only remedy is for me to stand a further distance from the speakers and amplifiers whilst making shapes on the dance floor… I’ll have to seriously consider it. But I am not happy about it, I have to say. I might just have to get used to the sounds of the slots. It’s a lot more interested than the high pitched “Wheeeeeeee” that other sufferers apparently experience. At least there’s the hum of background chatter in mine.

I am honoured to have been asked to be Chief Bridesmaid at my best friend’s wedding in July next year. I’m thrilled that she has set a date at last, and I can’t wait.

We were wedding dress shopping last weekend, and I got chatting to the lady who owned the dress shop about Harlequin Fun Casino. Having been in the wedding industry for nearly ten years, I was incredibly surprised to learn that she was not familiar with the concept of a mobile wedding casino. She’d heard that it was possible to hire a fun casino, but had never heard of someone hiring a fun casino for a wedding reception. I was baffled, as most of the enquiries we receive are for wedding receptions. It has to be the most popular booking across the board.

So I was amazed! There are only two possible explanations. Harlequin fun casino entertained guests at a 21st birthday party in Billericay tonight. Everyone had a great time, including our three croupiers and myself. Personally I was excited before the event to be heading out to Billericay. Having never been there before, it sounded quite exotic. A bit like Faliraki or Thessaloniki. I must admit, as lovely as it was, it wasn’t as as exotic as I had imagined, but being the home town of Gavin Shipman (of the epic BBC Three comedy “Gavin & Stacey”) it retains it’s charm for me. I’m looking forward to the day Harlequin is booked for a fun casino night on Barry Island. (Gavin & Stacey fans will appreciate my meaning, I am sure.)

Harlequin hosted a party casino in London last night, and it was a roaring success. The party was in honour of Blake Rowland who turned 40 this weekend, and I am positive he won’t mind if I say that if his skills on the roulette table are anything to go by, he shouldn’t go rushing out to Vegas to play for real any time soon! I don’t think we’ve ever seen anyone lose their fun money so quickly!

As a gesture of goodwill, we gave Blake a few more bucks to have another go, but we insisted he deviate slightly from his “All on Black” system. This time he lasted a good seven minutes!
